Is there room for tradition in an AI-centric world?

Held on 3 December at the TX Services office in Belgrade, the 2024 TX Conference marked the tenth edition of an event that began as an internal space for exchanging knowledge across TX Group. Its central question was deliberately broader than technology alone: Is there still room for tradition in a world increasingly shaped by AI?

Rather than treating tradition and innovation as opposites, the conference explored what happens when the two meet. Across eight talks, speakers examined how emerging technologies are changing the way we build software, educate people, produce news, understand money and even grow food. The programme moved between technical experience, scientific research and the wider consequences of technological change.

Stefan Petković shared lessons from moving real systems from monoliths to microservices, while Tiago Cruzeiro examined how generative AI is already changing developers’ habits. Professor Tijana Prodanović explored the impact of the digital and AI revolution on traditional education, and Miloš Mrdaković approached money itself as a form of technology.

The second part of the programme took the conversation beyond conventional software topics. Milica Panić and Dr Oskar Marko looked at explainable AI, crop classification and digital agriculture. Matthias Strodtkötter and Karen Steinkühler brought the perspective of the media industry, examining how AI-generated content is reshaping journalism, publishing and the way newsrooms work.

What connected these talks was not a single technology, but a shared tension: how do we adopt new tools without losing the knowledge, practices and human judgment that still matter?

In many ways, the 2024 edition anticipated the questions Cognitive Code continues to ask today. It created space for engineers, product professionals, researchers and people from outside traditional technology roles to look beyond what innovation makes possible and consider what it changes along the way.
